Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to the sessions?

  • Fitz is between Storey's Way and Huntingdon Road—head to the Storey's Way side entrance and go right through the Porter's Lodge until you're outside.
  • Once you're there, head right and follow the straight path until you see a big red brick building with a glass door (known as Wilson Court), and head inside.
  • Then follow the signs to find the room! There'll be a Chez logo on the door. All the rooms we use have step-free access.
  • If unsure, don't hesitate to ask the porters—they'll know where the Wilson Court Common Room is.
  • Fitz also has a very helpful page on how best to get there and a handy little map of the college.

Is there anywhere I can park my bike?

  • Yes! There's a safe spot for guests in front of the south entrance—look for the black sign that says 'Fitzwilliam College Cycle Park'. If that happens to be full, Churchill is right next door and they usually have plenty of bike racks out front!

Do I need to bring/know anything before coming to the sessions?

  • Nope! No need to read the rules or try playing any games beforehand—Chez is all about learning on the go rather than reading rulebooks :).
  • If you have your own 7-set of dice, feel free to bring them along, but otherwise we have plenty to choose from!
  • Snacks are provided too :)

What should I expect from a typical session?

  • Sessions tend to be a quick introduction into a particular mechanic (or several), then we get into groups and give it a go!
  • Once people are getting more comfortable with the game, we'll have tournaments and other events to keep things different from week to week.
  • Sometimes the group merges into one huge game instead of several smaller ones, which is a bit more relaxed but still a lot of fun.
