Simpler Versions

Whilst the spirit of Chez is to embrace the complexity, there is no denying that sometimes the complexity can be a little much. Below are listed some simpler versions for those that wish to play Chez with less to think about, or for those that wish to work up to playing the full version of the game. You're of course free to ignore certain rules and find your own optimum, however, certain versions are more balanced than others.

If you're looking to get a taste of Chez without learning every intricacy, this is the version for you.
Use all the rules provided in basics of play, and the revolution.

For a little additional flavour, including the two red sixes is also recommended!
Want more risk? Also add doubles, triples, and quadruples.

Castle Expansion

If you've tried the recommended basics and are looking to add a little more balance to the revolution, or just more uses for otherwise functionless cards, this is the version for you.
Use all the rules provided in:

Royal Expansion

If you've tried the recommended basics and are looking for some more functionality to royals to counter that of the lowly peasants, this is the expansion for you!
Use all the rules provided in:

Chez, Final

Of course, the final version is the latest one. Once you've worked out all the rules, the most balanced version of Chez is the one that contains all of the rules. Enjoy!

Experimenting

Please feel free to experiment! Learning any game is easiest through playing. Take your time and add rules in as you get comfortable with the rest.

Absolute Basics

For the absolute basics, you could use only the rules provided in basics of play, but exclude the plague. This therefore just includes rules for individual cards.

NOTE: This ruleset is not recommended. It excludes the revolution, a vital rebalancing element of Chez, meaning games last far, far longer.
